The Hex EF/gate/Trigger is the most complex module made by SynQuanon, even more sophisticated than the Hex VCF, which in its own right is quite versatile! Here's an exploded view of the latest one in the manufacturing line, showing two halves of the final assembly:
The Hex EF/gate/Trigger introduces two new concepts for SynQuaNon: a modular design as well as being expandable to 7 channels, the latter enabled by the modular construction (one can simply add a single channel EF/gate/Trigger module). This is a new approach for us and will likely continue for other modules to be introduced in 2021 and beyond.
Why is this important? For the first time, we can create EF/Gate/Trigger modules with any number of channels that a customer desires, simply by changing the front panel and rear connector board. Examples might be a 4-channel unit for bass players and 7-, 8-, 9-, 10-channel versions for guitarists! These would be special orders of course, but relatively straight forward to fulfill.
A future revision of other modules could adapt this approach to create Fuzz, VCF, VCA, and other modules for players with instruments that don't have 6 output signals. We will not be limited to hexaphonic processing in the future!
